the Farmlands HeART of the Community project.
Farmlands is New Zealand's largest farmer owner co-operative. We were established more than 50 years ago, with the specific intention of providing competition in the retail farm supply industry to reduce farmers' input costs.
The co-operative is now entering its second half-century with more than 1,000 staff servicing more than 68,000 shareholders through a network of 82 stores. Farmlands has evolved to a top 20 New Zealand company and a major player in New Zealand’s rural industry.
To acknowledge the communities that support us, we have launched the Farmlands HeART of the Community project - celebrating our unique townships, their stories and people.
As part of the project we commission various local artists to create a piece of art that represents the heart of the town – what makes it unique and special. In addition to engendering local pride, these art pieces will become an enduring legacy to show the rest of New Zealand how great our rural towns really are.
Farmlands Chief Executive Peter Reidie says Farmlands is passionate about being an integral part of their shareholders’ rural communities.
“We are proud to honour community pride and hope that HeART of the Community is a way to strengthen the bond between Farmlands and the communities that own it.”
